Research overview
Kits Peptides is a Canadian research peptide supplier based in Kitsilano, Vancouver, BC. We supply Glutathione for laboratory research use only, shipped tracked across Canada.
Glutathione (reduced, GSH) is supplied as a lyophilized reference standard for in-vitro laboratory research use only. Not for human or veterinary use.
Provided strictly as a laboratory reagent. Not for human or veterinary use. Every lot ships with an independent third-party certificate of analysis.
Information provided for research reference only. No claims are made regarding safety or efficacy for any use in humans or animals.
What glutathione is
Glutathione is a tripeptide of glutamate, cysteine and glycine, written gamma-Glu-Cys-Gly. The gamma in that name matters: the bond between glutamate and cysteine is formed from glutamate's side-chain carboxyl rather than its alpha carboxyl, which is unusual among peptides and is part of why it resists ordinary peptidases.
CAS 70-18-8, formula C10H17N3O6S, molar mass 307.32 g/mol. The material here is the reduced form, GSH, named for the free thiol on its cysteine. The oxidised form, GSSG, is a dimer of two GSH molecules joined by a disulfide bond, and the two are distinct entities with different molar masses.
What the research literature covers
Glutathione is one of the most extensively characterised small molecules in cell biology, and it is used as much as an assay reference standard as it is as a research subject.
The published literature reports it as the substrate of glutathione peroxidases and glutathione S-transferases, and uses the ratio of reduced GSH to oxidised GSSG as a standard readout of cellular redox state in cultured cells and tissue homogenates. Its enzymatic synthesis by glutamate-cysteine ligase and glutathione synthetase is described in detail.
The findings above come from animal, cell and in-vitro models rather than from controlled trials in people, and Glutathione is not an approved medicine in Canada. What we supply is a laboratory reagent, not for human or veterinary use.
Kits Peptides supplies Glutathione as a laboratory reagent. Describing this literature is not an offer of it for any purpose studied in that literature, and nothing on this page is guidance for use in humans or animals.
What is in the vial
Glutathione is supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed glass vial. The label carries the compound name, the nominal mass in milligrams, our batch code and the research-use statement. As the reduced form it carries a free thiol, which is oxidation-sensitive, so keep vials sealed and cold until use.
Vials ship unopened. Store as the label directs on arrival; the storage guide in the research library covers the general handling of lyophilized peptides. Bacteriostatic water is sold separately as a supply item and is not included unless your order lists it.
Sizes
Glutathione is stocked in the size listed above, a larger nominal mass than the peptide vials because it is used at higher working quantities as a reference standard. Quantity discounts apply automatically on multi-vial orders.
How this lot is documented
Each order records the batch that filled it, and the batch code is printed on the vial label. Where a third-party certificate of analysis exists for the production lot of glutathione we received, it is linked in the certificate section above and on the lab results page.
Read those certificates for what they are: they were issued by the laboratory named on them to our supplier for that production lot, and our batch code is the internal receipt reference we assign, so it does not appear on the PDF. We do not currently commission testing in our own name, and product titles make no purity claim for lots without a certificate. The lab standards page explains the full position.
Shipping from Vancouver
Every order is packed in Kitsilano, Vancouver and ships domestically. Nothing crosses a border, so there is no international transit and no customs hold.
Metro Vancouver addresses can choose same-day courier delivery, priced by distance from our dispatch point; the cutoff for same-day is shown at checkout once you enter a postal code. Everywhere else in Canada ships tracked Canada Post, with the tracking number on your confirmation page and on the order tracking page. Free shipping applies above the threshold shown on the shipping page.
How to order
Choose a size, add it to the cart and check out. Checkout records a short attestation that you are 19 or older and purchasing for laboratory research. Payment is by Interac e-Transfer, card, or cryptocurrency; the confirmation page shows the exact steps for the method you picked, and the same steps are emailed to you.
If a size shows as sold out, the waitlist button on that size emails you when it is back. Quantity discounts apply automatically above the subtotals listed on the shop page and do not stack with promo codes.
Common questions
- What is glutathione?
- A tripeptide of glutamate, cysteine and glycine (gamma-Glu-Cys-Gly), supplied here in its reduced form, GSH. CAS 70-18-8, formula C10H17N3O6S, molar mass 307.32 g/mol.
- What does the gamma in gamma-Glu-Cys-Gly mean?
- The glutamate joins cysteine through its side-chain carboxyl rather than its alpha carboxyl. That unusual linkage is part of why the molecule is not readily cleaved by standard peptidases.
- What is the difference between GSH and GSSG?
- GSH is the reduced form with a free thiol. GSSG is the oxidised dimer, two GSH molecules joined by a disulfide bond, with roughly twice the molar mass. The GSH to GSSG ratio is a standard redox measurement in the literature. We supply the reduced form.
- Is glutathione a peptide?
- Yes, a tripeptide, though the gamma linkage makes it atypical. It occurs naturally in cells rather than being a synthetic analogue.
- Is there a certificate of analysis for glutathione?
- Where a third-party certificate exists for the production lot we received, it is linked on this page and on the lab results page. Those certificates were issued to our supplier.
- Is glutathione in stock?
- Stock is shown per size above, with a waitlist button on a sold-out size.
- How is it shipped?
- Same-day courier across Metro Vancouver and tracked Canada Post everywhere else in Canada. Domestic only.
- How do I pay?
- Interac e-Transfer, card, or cryptocurrency.
