Semax

Semax is a synthetic heptapeptide, sequence Met-Glu-His-Phe-Pro-Gly-Pro, usually written MEHFPGP. The first four residues correspond to the ACTH(4-7) fragment of adrenocorticotropic hormone, and the Pro-Gly-Pro tail is a synthetic addition that the literature describes as slowing enzymatic degradation of the fragment.

CAS 80714-61-0, formula C37H51N9O10S, molar mass 813.93 g/mol. Unlike the ACTH sequence it derives from, Semax is not reported to carry the hormone's corticotropic activity, which is the property that made the truncated fragment of interest as a research tool.

Semax appears in neuropeptide literature, largely from Russian research groups where it was developed, and it is studied as a short ACTH-derived peptide rather than as a hormone analogue.

Published studies have reported changes in BDNF and NGF expression in rodent brain tissue, effects on dopaminergic and serotonergic markers, and outcomes in rodent models of cerebral ischaemia. Its stability and degradation products have been characterised separately in the analytical literature.

The findings above come from animal, cell and in-vitro models rather than from controlled trials in people, and Semax is not an approved medicine in Canada. What we supply is a laboratory reagent, not for human or veterinary use.

Semax is supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed glass vial. The label carries the compound name, the nominal mass in milligrams, our batch code and the research-use statement.

Vials ship unopened. Store as the label directs on arrival; the storage guide in the research library covers the general handling of lyophilized peptides. Bacteriostatic water is sold separately as a supply item and is not included unless your order lists it.

Read those certificates for what they are: they were issued by the laboratory named on them to our supplier for that production lot, and our batch code is the internal receipt reference we assign, so it does not appear on the PDF. We do not currently commission testing in our own name, and product titles make no purity claim for lots without a certificate. The lab standards page explains the full position.
