PT-141

PT-141, also catalogued as bremelanotide, is a synthetic cyclic heptapeptide analogue of alpha-melanocyte-stimulating hormone. The structure is Ac-Nle-cyclo[Asp-His-D-Phe-Arg-Trp-Lys]-OH: an acetylated norleucine, then a lactam ring closed between aspartate and lysine, with a D-phenylalanine in place of the natural L form.

CAS 189691-06-3, formula C50H68N14O10, molar mass 1025.18 g/mol. It is a metabolite of Melanotan II and differs from it at a single position: PT-141 terminates in a free acid where Melanotan II terminates in an amide.

PT-141 appears in melanocortin receptor literature as an agonist with reported activity at the MC1, MC3 and MC4 receptors, and it is commonly compared against Melanotan II to separate the effects of the two C-terminal forms.

Published studies have used it to probe MC4 receptor signalling in rodent models, and receptor-binding assays characterise its affinity profile across the melanocortin family.

A licensed prescription medicine containing PT-141 is approved and sold in Canada under other brand names. What we supply is NOT that medicine. It is an unapproved laboratory reagent, not manufactured, released or supplied to pharmaceutical standards, and not for human or veterinary use. PT-141 is supplied as a lyophilized (freeze-dried) powder in a sealed glass vial. The label carries the compound name, the nominal mass in milligrams, our batch code and the research-use statement.

Vials ship unopened. Store as the label directs on arrival; the storage guide in the research library covers the general handling of lyophilized peptides. Bacteriostatic water is sold separately as a supply item and is not included unless your order lists it.

Read those certificates for what they are: they were issued by the laboratory named on them to our supplier for that production lot, and our batch code is the internal receipt reference we assign, so it does not appear on the PDF. We do not currently commission testing in our own name, and product titles make no purity claim for lots without a certificate. The lab standards page explains the full position.
